Concept Design
Town of Hudson Point
Hudson Point Park is located in the imaginary town of Hudson Point, New York, on the west bank of the Hudson River at the base of the Catskill Mountains. The town of Hudson Point was first settled in the 17th century by Dutch colonists. Town facilities, such as the court house, a church, and a retail district share a boundary with Hudson Point Park.
Hudson Point Park
Located on the western end Hudson Point and a tributary of the Hudson River (called the Lagoon), Hudson Point Park was developed in the 19th century. The original design included pleasure grounds, gardens, and picnic pavilions. Over the years, other attractions were added—an aviary (perhaps a small zoo), a theater, and other small attractions.
The Depot
A railroad provided access to Hudson Point Park day-trippers from further distances serviced by the rail line. Rail passengers arrived at the depot.
The Factories
A series of factory buildings, most empty, are located in a nearby vicinity. These structures are identified for rehabilitation into a future hotel and spa. (Called Hudson’s Landing).
Catskill Adventure Theme Park
Developers are negotiating a deal with the town and planning to build a regional amusement theme park. Catskill Adventure will be constructed adjacent to Hudson Point Park. The developers will integrate the theme park, Hudson Point Park, the town’s retail district, and Hudson’s Landing (the factories). Catskill Adventure will develop distinctive amusement areas based on an historic Dutch Settlement, the Catskill Mountains (with a relocated historic mountain house lodge), a 19th century farming town, the American Revolution, and the works of Washington Irving (Sleepy Hollow).
